Since the beginning of recorded history, the search for meaning is among the most enduring and compelling themes of humanity.
Having a clear sense of purpose enables us to call forth our best when we need it. That same motivation gives us confidence in our actions and protects us when conditions get tough.
Studies have shown that purpose can serve as a powerful and enduring source of energy. This is especially true if that source goes through a “hero’s journey” type of progression, meaning a transition from negative to positive, from the external to the internal and from service of self to service of others.
Living out our purpose is a lifelong pursuit and few of us are so fortunate to easily recognize this purpose.
For most of us, that quest begins when something awakens within; some indescribable desire for challenge, for knowledge and even for hardship. Once we give into this desire, we venture out into the unknown.
We soon realize we cannot vanquish the monsters alone. So we enlist mentors, we practice and we learn.
Until we are ready to slay the dragon, and in the process defeating the demons within us all.
When it comes down to it, self-transformation is our greatest challenge as human beings.
Have you accepted this challenge? If not now, then when?
