Win the day.
The first time I heard it was from a college football coach.
As far as mantras go, I like this one a lot.
I say it all the time.
It makes sense though. Successful and happy lives are built one day at a time.
Today was a day that was won.
My wife is still on work travel, and I’m tired.
But it was another gorgeous Fall day in Ohio.
And I’ve been slacking in terms of running. So I ran 4.3 miles with the dog at lunch today. It was everything I needed and then some. Exercise IS medicine.
And then I found a way to put away 14% of monthly quota.
And then we still made it swim practice. We were 5 minutes late, but oh well.
And then we got everybody fed and did two loads of laundry.
And then I had a work call at 8pm to placate a dissatisfied customer.
And then I made dinner of grilled chicken, roasted parsnips, butternut squash and salad.
And as I eat this nutritious and home-cooked meal for one, I am filling my mind with the thoughts and words of inspiring people who are far smarter and more capable than I’ll ever hope to be.
Tomorrow I will wake up healthier, wealthier and wiser than I did today.
If that doesn’t constitute a winning day, I don’t know what does.
See you tomorrow.
