It is said that Napoleon would walk amongst his soldiers on the nights before battle.
He would stop to talk to his men, to share a joke, to explain their objectives, and to encourage those who needed it.
The next day, his army would be convinced and willing to go to battle under the direction of the General.
Since I learned about my leveling up to manage my team, the pace of everything has increased dramatically.
Not to mention training four brand new sales reps.
It’s been challenging to say the least.
But it’s also been one of the most fulfilling periods of my career heretofore.
Today we had our annual Christmas lunch for work.
My team got me a card and a gift certificate for a nice dinner with my wife.
It was completely unnecessary and totally unexpected.
And it was gratifying in a way that is still difficult to put into words, even after writing every day for the much of the last year.
I feel like I’m finally in a position where I can be real force for good for people at work and in their careers.
For the first time in my own professional journey, I really feel like I’m in a place where I can make a difference in peoples’ lives.
In a small way, I feel like I already am.
And you know what?
My team is making a difference in mine as well.
A good team makes it better because of a good leader.
