Some Things Live Up to the Hype

Few things live up to the hype after a great deal of work goes into it.

We see it all the time in society.

A person busts their ass for years or decades to get their one true desire, only to achieve that objective and have it ring hollow.

A total bummer perhaps.

But why do we feel that way?

Maybe it’s because in the end, the type of person you had to become is bigger than the goal. The personal growth is the real treasure, while checking the achievement box is just the end result.

But then some things are simply that satisfying.

Some things are worth the wait.

Some things live up to the hype.

Today my mother held her youngest grandbaby for the first time.

When he was born, she was undergoing chemotherapy treatments that caused severe neuropathy and nearly crippled her.

It’s been a long and arduous journey back to her feet this year for her.

And while progress has been tremendous, we still aren’t all the way there.

Cherish the little things.

One day they may not be so little.

But it’s okay.

Because that moment today lived up the hype.

For everybody.
