Yesterday, I wrote about 3 things that made 2021 my strongest year yet.
Here are four more things that contributed to that.
New Outdoor hobbies: I was never too much of a hobby guy, probably because I spent my time drinking and playing video games. Now I play golf and disc golf, two activities which are outside, social (or not), involve walking and require practice to get better at. All good things.
Meal Planning: We have two young kids and jobs. We are tired. One of our biggest arguments used to be what was for dinner. We’ve tried meal-delivery services before, but we found one that really matches our tastes. Three to four meals a week are done right there. It cuts down on decision bandwidth.
Quit Video Games: Instead of spending my time aimlessly in front of the tv screen, I spent my time figuring out a side hustle. That side hustle made over $3000 in 2021. It paid for a weekend beach trip with my oldest friends, it paid for golf all year, and it paid for daily investments in dividend stocks and cryptocurrency.
Energy Renewal: Chances are if we want to achieve cool things, we need to be at our best. One way to get there is to spend time on things that recharge us. It doesn’t matter what it is, just do it. For me, I realized that my kids, while exhausting and frustrating at times, are the greatest sources of joy in my life. As such, I’ve been a happier and more fulfilled person.
Combined with the behaviors from yesterday, these added a great deal of value to my life and resulted in a better version of myself than I’ve ever been before.
And they all took months.
A year from now, what are you going to wish you started today?
Start now, the clock is ticking.
