There are times in our lives when we reach inflection points; when we come to diverging paths.
I used to fear these places. Because I feared losing. Because I feared winning. Because I feared giving my best effort but losing anyway, the ultimate disappointment.
No longer.
Opportunity is a strange thing and presents itself in wild ways sometimes. But if we recognize it, we can get the things we spend hours working and planning and striving for.
There are a lot of platitudes out there about facing your fears; about doing things that scare you.
A lot of that talk centers on how it’s good for us. We should feel uneasy, it means we are pushing boundaries. Progress, man!
All that aside, I happen to agree. Some degree of fear is good for us.
If we use it right, fear can help us summon our best instincts and abilities when we need them the most.
Ships are safe in harbor, but that’s not why we build ships.
Nothing will come from nothing.
So, dare for mighty things.
