Dickie Bush hit the big-time truth-bomb button when he wrote a thread on 4 things that compound faster than others.
It seemed silly to say for a long time, but here the truth for me: that thread changed my life for the better. That very day, I wrote the list of those four things down and taped it to my office wall.
They are:
- Process
- Reputation
- Experience
- Relationships
In that time, my wife and I had another baby. I got healthy again in body, mind and soul. I rededicated myself professionally. I joined an online writing cohort. I strung together some very strong months at work and earned a new lease on my professional life. Even my hobbies got better as I posted my best rounds of golf and disc golf since I was 20 years old.
And I’ve now written, edited, and posted original writing online to Twitter, Medium, LinkedIn and a blog for 442 straight days.
There is a big reason number 1 is process and it’s simple.
Process drove the systems that delivered the results.
For far too long, I lacked a process for turning ideas into action.
And now, as a result of thinking, writing and sharing each day; my life has a momentum it never before had.
Don’t worry about if you have the talent or not. Don’t worry about looking silly. Don’t worry about learning curves.
Inspired processes mitigate our fears, doubts and insecurities. Because while they are formidable, they are far from invincible.
Invest in the process. Trust the process.
Watch the process become results.
And win.
